Mining machines are subject to harsh physical
tests onthe mine sites. Even though they are ro-
bust and designed to work in such environments,
it frequently occurs that falling stones, or other
material, come to deteriorate the material and
cause significant machine failure.
In response to its mining customers’ unplanned
machine downtimes, JA Delmas has successfully
developed its technical expertise through additional
protections for the most vulnerable parts with the sup-
port and knowledge of other Caterpillar dealers (in
this case, Zeppelin in Germany).
The following is an example in Guinea, where JA
Delmas and Atiko Guinée sought to take the lead by
offering appropriate solutions to safeguard mining
operations: this bucket cylinder protection is attached
to the hydraulic excavator so as to protect the bucket
cylinder.

Results: This helps reduce the risk of premature
breakage, and therefore unplanned machine down-
time for the customers!
